i didn't pick as few pieces for your portfolio as i did because i felt they were the only ones that were worthy, but because i just see them as favorites i guess...does that make any sense? i don't have a lot of experience with this selection process thingy but i think most of your work is portfolio material; i guess the real question is what works you feel represent you best.

i don't know what schools your applying to, if you're applying as a transfer or as a freshman for fall term, etc etc. if you're applying for a certain major as a transfer i think schools expect the work to be a little more oriented towards your major.

if you're applying for animation (i
m just saying this b/c i read that you were interested in animation ) then i think the only thing you might wanna add to your current portfolio is a figure drawing or too. maybe 1 page of gestures? then again, a strong work based on the figure is a plus for any portfolio, or at least that's what i was told by my art teachers/read on the internetz.

you've been accepted into art school before, i'm pretty sure you can do it again. don't be nervous and good luck! :D

btw...is your name..stephanie? x_x
:icondorkymagenta:
yea i am a stephanie. i dont think you need experience to pick out work that you like, because art is for people and everyone likes it, but they all have their own taste of course. it seems like you prefer colorful works, a opposed to my other freind who chose mostly grayscale work. im just interested to see which works appeal to other people as opposed to what i consider my best.
i have some figure drawings that i like but i just never put them up on here. i dont even know where they are right now actually.... ah.

thanx for helping me out! you should put up some mo' work, khalil.(i only know this because you said it was your last name on my dog painting)
:iconrenderpowerless:
lol. i dunno if your name is anywhere in your dev art account, i was browsing through facebook and caught site of your painting and saw your name underneath. i was likee, woah woah woah.. i've seen that painting before.

unfortunately i have nothing really finished lately; i have been sketching lots, though!i've been really lazy lately...lazy enough to not pull out a scanner or push a button on a camera. haha.

you are very welcome!
:icondorkymagenta:
oh yeah, is that on the risd2012 group? i thought i deletedmy stuff and left the group, but i guess it was still there. i looked just now. i have lost all enthusiasm for that school because its so expensive and i think most people who go there just want to get rich off of design. but i dont even know anyone who goes there... so yeah, and i bet this is all just something in my head to help me cope with the fact that i will never be able to afford it and if i did go i would feel guilty for the rest of my life for making my parents shovel out the money when i could have fed all of the hobos in my city with that money.... im weird, sorry. lol
:iconweile:
ha. you're not wrong... risd is definitely full of rich mediocre kids, some propelled mostly by attitude. but also, there's a small number of very worthy people. well, whatever. you will find those anyplace. i do think there is a higher concentration of motivated people at risd than at some other schools. (i'm sure same can be said for mica, saic, some others.) but does this neutralize the immense guilt over the amount of money going in? wellnooooo... you can only figure out how to ';pay off' later. be a generous artist, or non-artist, and preferably both. art school is bizarre. if only you could find like-minded people and working artists more easily on your own, and somehow become friends with them, because it seems as though all you have to do in terms of quality art education is talk to people, make things, collaborate, and elicit honest critiques from those you respect, friend or otherwise. and you ought to always seek opportunities to have your mind changed. art school puts you in the company of these people for a fee. I'm talking mainly of professors, visiting artists, lecturers, etc.

and that's... what ehhhh? like some kinda lecture?? sorry for invading. but in my class today these topics arose tangentially and I guess they were roving round the back of my mind.
